Lamu, Kericho, Malindi to commence voter registration on April 18

Mass voter registration for Lamu, Kericho counties and Malindi Constituency will commence on 18th April to 17th May, 2016, IEBC has said.

In a statement on Thursday, communications and corporate affairs manager Tabitha Mutemi said the process was not conducted in February–March owing to Senate and parliamentary

by-elections that were being held in Kericho and Malindi at the time.

Lamu County missed out on the process due to legal technicalities that have since been resolved.

“The Commission calls upon eligible voters who are yet to register in the three electoral areas to come out in large numbers to be enrolled,” Tabitha said.

Kenyans who missed out on phase one or those who want to change voting stations can register in IEBC's constituency offices.

The commission has also announced that the by-elections for Ngobit, West Uyoma and Lolmokwo/Ngechek Wards will be held on Friday, June 03, 2016.

Ngobit MCA Mwangi Kamakia at Nanyuki Stadium. He was also the Laikipia county majority leader.

West Uyoma MCA Mathews Odeny Onduru has passed on in December while at Nairobi Hospital where he was undergoing treatment for a heart problem.

Lolmokwo/Ngechek MCA Hesbon Metto

died in February after suffering from diabetic condition and high blood pressure.
