The media needs to up its game when it comes to investigative journalism, Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has said.

This will ensure what is fed to the public is true, Mutunga said during the launch of the new look Star newspaper at Serena Hotel in Nairobi on Thursday. He was the chief guest.

"I am of the view that investigative journalism is weak and not supported by the media," he said.

Radio Africa Group CEO Patrick Quarcoo assured the public that the new paper is predictive, analytical and forward-looking.

"The Star is a different newspaper now — it is a paper that is predictive, analytical, forward-looking and not the paper of yesterday," he said.

"That is why I ask you to support it. It has more than 15 million paid views in a month."

Quarcoo added:

“If you take that newspaper, open it and start reading, it takes you in. And when you finish, you understand the politics that determines business and the business that determines the economy of this country. This is what we have given you."

Among leaders present were Senators Mutula Kilonzo Jr (Makueni), Hassan Omar (Mombasa) and Martha Wangari (Nominated), and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed.
