THE Teachers Service Commission has ditched its proposed model of assessing tutors in favour of an existing formula, chairperson Lydia Nzomo has said.
Speaking at the Shanzu Teachers' Training College, Mombasa, on Monday, she
said the programme was previously ongoing at eight counties on a pilot basis.
"If teachers have been continuously assessed over the years, we say let the assessment move on," she said.
However, she said the assessment should be done in a structured manner.
TSC had earlier on raised concerns over the threshold set on the old assessment.
This prompted the commission to launch its own model last month.
Teachers on the other hand have been complaining that the new Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development Performance Contract programme was meant to victimise them.
