NAIROBI Governor Evans Kidero yesterday admitted health services in the county are wanting and pledged to turn the tables in the next one year.
He said while health services in the country have improved significantly since devolution started, Nairobi lags behind.
“The national health index shows the country has improved as far as health services are concerned, but Nairobi is pulling this index down,” Kidero said.
He said the county has put in place measures to expand and equip health facilities.
Kidero said Mama Lucy, Mbagathi, Pumwani and Mutuini hospitals will be renovated and elevated to level five in the next one year.
He said at least 1,000 bed spaces will be created in the existing health facilities.
Kidero said 5,000 more people will receive outpatient services.
