Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Tuesday appeared before the High Court for mitigation after he was found to be in contempt of court in a case involving the construction of a controversial Ebola isolation and quarantine facility in Nanyuki, Laikipia county.
The health CS arrived in court, accompanied by Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni and other officials from the Ministry of Health.
The court is expected to determine the appropriate sanctions against the Cabinet Secretary following the mitigation proceedings.

Duale appeared before Justice Patricia Nyaundi, who had previously ruled that the CS was in continuing contempt of orders issued on May 28 and reaffirmed on June 2, halting the project's implementation.
The court orders suspended the construction of the US-funded facility pending the hearing and determination of a petition challenging the project.
Petitioners argue that the project was undertaken without adequate public participation and have raised concerns over its potential impact on public health and safety.
