Kenyans from across the country on Tuesday came out to protest against the government.

President William Ruto last week declined to assent to the Finance Bill 2024 but outrage against his government has continued relentlessly. 

A section of agitated Kenyans took to the streets demanding accountability from the government over management of public resources.

The protesters chanted anti-government slogans while demonstrating in the streets of Nairobi and other urban centres across the country.

They lit bonfires and engaged anti-riot police in running battles.

At some point, the protests were infiltrated by criminal elements who unleashed mayhem, destroying property and looting businesses.

Police fired teargas at the lot to disperse them as the group retaliated by throwing stones at the police.

A couple of main roads were closed for the better part of the day as protesters barricaded them with stones.
