Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday joined other leaders and Kenyans in the burial ceremony of Mzee Gerald Gikonyo Kanyuira, the landlord of Sabina Joy.
The ceremony took place at Rwathia in Kangema, Murang'a County.
Gachagua described the late Mzee Gikonyo as a towering figure in entrepreneurship whose success in business has been felt far and wide.
"Mzee Gikonyo, who passed at the age of 110, was an icon of inspiration as he rose from a humble background to build a successful business empire," he said.
"On behalf of President William Ruto, we appreciate the notable contribution Mzee Gikonyo made in developing our nation. May his soul Rest in Eternal Peace."
Present were Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, MPs Peter Kihungi (Kangema), Jayne Kihara (Naivasha), James Gakuya (Embakasi North), Murang'a Senator Joe Nyutu, Nominated Senator Veronica Maina, County Assembly Speaker Johnson Mukuha,
MCAs led by Area MCA Kamau Kagori (Rwathia Ward), former Kirinyaga Senator Daniel Karaba and former Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe among others.
