Kenya, Israel strengthen medical ties with new collaborative initiatives

Principal Secretary, State Department for Medical Services Harry Kimtai hosted a delegation from the Embassy of the State of Israel led by  Ambassador Michael Lotem on May 21, 2024.

According to a statement shared by the Ministry of Health on X, the meeting focused on enhancing collaboration and bilateral relations between Kenya and Israel.

The discussions covered several key areas of cooperation, including the exchange of physicians specializing in emergency medicine and pediatrics from Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem.

Additionally, the Israeli delegation pledged to donate state-of-the-art portable ultrasound equipment for diagnosing trauma and internal injuries during disasters as stated by the Ministry of Health. 

"The cooperation also extends to training primary healthcare workers on using the donated machines, supporting Kenya's Universal Health Coverage initiative," Kimtai said.
