Interior and National Administration CS Prof Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday held a consultative meeting with Immigration and Citizen Services PS Julius Bitok and Director General Evelyn Cheluget.
During the meetings, they assessed the efficiency of reforms that have been effected in the department since last year in the production and issuance of passports.
The reforms initiated in May, 2023, have resolved the backlog on the production and issuance of passports in the country.
Following the meeting, Kindiki directed the rollout of a Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) to ensure that the 49,500 uncollected paspports from the initial backlog of 724,000 passports are delivered and collected in 14 days, starting May 10, 2024.
The CS said streamlining of service delivery at the Immigration Directorate has given way to more efficient passport production and issuance procedures.
