President William Ruto on Friday joined Kenyans in marking International Women’s Day celebrations at Moi Stadium, Embu County.

The President said women empowerment in leadership will further their robust and effective participation in the country’s decision making.

"The inclusion and active engagement of women in leadership is essential in accelerating our progress," he said.

"We will expand our empowerment of women to further their full, robust and effective participation in the country’s decision-making," he added.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretaries, Council of Governors chairperson Anne Waiguru and the governors of Embu, Homa Bay, Nakuru, Machakos, Kwale, Meru among other leaders were present.
