President William Ruto on Monday officially opened the joint National Executive Retreat and Parliamentary Group consultative meeting in Naivasha.

Cabinet Secretaries, legislatures and other state officials arrived in Naivasha on Sunday evening, in preparation for the yearly meeting.

The retreat, officially commencing today, is designed to evaluate Kenya Kwanza's performance and spotlight significant achievements since the administration assumed office in September 2022.

In his opening speech, the President told the legislators to be patient as it was a must for Kenya to change

"I know sometimes many get discouraged and anxious and some panic. Many people believe in Kenya we must not be the ones who will not believe in Kenya," he said.

"You are the government. Don't point at other governments, you are the government."

It will be the second one after the one held last year in Nanyuki.

Principal secretaries will also attend the meeting.

"The retreat is expected to review the performance of all ministries and State offices and map out the priorities for 2024 that will be codified in the ministerial performance contracts," reads a dispatch issued Friday.

"This year’s retreat has been preceded by a roadshow under the stewardship of the Public Service ministry in conjunction with the Cabinet Office."

The retreat holds significant importance as it lays the groundwork for the formulation of Ministerial Performance Contracts, which will guide the government's agenda and initiatives throughout the year.
