Different women groups on Saturday held peaceful marches in Nairobi and other major towns against increased cases of femicide.

'Sisi ni watu sio wanyama', stop killing us, women were heard saying.

Several men also joined the march.

They carried different placards with different writings. 

"Sex workers have the right to be free from violence and killings," one of the placards read.

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, LSK President Eric Theuri were also among the crowd.

The lawmaker hailed the police for moving with speed and arresting suspects of recent femicide cases.

“The judiciary should on their part handle the cases expeditiously and lock up the criminals,” she said.
