Police in Mombasa were forced to lob teargas canisters to disperse a handful of protesters that had gathered around the Express area along Moi Avenue.

The protesters lit bonfires blocking the road that leads to the main entrance of the Port of Mombasa.

The police had earlier warned that no demonstrations will be allowed in any part of Mombasa.
