[Photos] Ruto meets Colombia's VP Francia Mina at State House

President William Ruto on Tuesday morning met with Colombia's Vice President Francia Elena Márquez Mina.

The VP who is winding her four-day state visit, met with the President in State House.

She was accompanied by her Kenyan counterpart Rigathi Gachagua.

Kenya and Colombia on Monday signed agreements to help them boost trade and knowledge exchange in various sectors of the economy.

The MoUs were signed during a meeting between DP Gachagua and Colombian Vice President Franica Elena Marquez Mina at his residence in Karen.

Among the agreement's signed were the establishment of a Joint Commission for Cooperation, and Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.

Further, they signed declarations to work together in training of Spanish, promotion of culture, tourism, higher learning, trade and investment and mining.

To strengthen trade ties between the two nations, the two leaders committed to engage the relevant national authorities on establishment of direct flights.

The relations will further be strengthened through scholarships in specific areas of expertise.

Data shows that Kenyan exports to Colombia in 2021 amounted to Sh150 million.

Coffee, tea and spices are the leading exports while live trees, plants, bulbs, roots and cut flowers follow.
