Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has visited Shakahola forest in Malindi, Kilifi, to oversee the commencement of the second phase of the exhumation of bodies at the forest.
He said the postmortem examinations on 112 bodies exhumed or recovered from Shakahola have been concluded.
The exhumation exercise had been called off due to bad weather.
"The search and rescue efforts are ongoing. 65 persons have been rescued from the thickets, including two who were evacuated Tuesday morning by the multi-agency security team," he said.
"We are following a number of investigations and I want to ensure the Kenyans and the world, that we will do whatever it takes to get the bottom of this matter and establish the truth. The government has nothing to hide."
