[PHOTOS] Governor Nyong'o leads anti-Ruto protests in Kisumu

Kisumu had been peaceful for the better part of the morning.

On Monday, Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong'o and his deputy Mathew Owili led residents in anti-government protests in the city.

As the demos started, the governor held roadside addresses where alongside other leaders they urged residents to turn out in numbers.

Kisumu had been peaceful for the better part of the morning, despite the protests having been expected to begin as early as 6 am.

Most busy streets remains deserted as businesses remained closed in the city that is an Opposition stronghold.

There was however, heavy police presence in the area.
