Some Kisumu residents on Wednesday took to the streets to protest over the high cost of living in the country.
The protestors stormed State Lodge demanding to be heard by the government.
They carried empty sufuria's, cooking sticks and placards written "Njaaaa!!" (Hunger).
Police were seen trying to block them from entering the State Lodge.
The protesters also carried twigs and chanted songs while dancing and lying on the ground. They were joined by bodaboda riders and other motorists.
Some of the protesters carried a coffin made of boxes and decried the tough economic times.
In a picture seen by the Star, some of the demonstrators chewed raw twigs.
They were heard shouting "Watu wa Kisumu county tumejitokeza kufanya maandamano kwa sababu Baba alisema akiwa Siaya kwamba tufanye maandamano hadi State House."
"Tarehe Ishirini tutatoka Kisumu twende Nairobi tuhakikishe tumechukua State House, Ruto must go."
(We Kisumu residents have come out to protest because Baba told us to demonstrate to State House when he was in Siaya. On March 20, we shall go to Nairobi and take over State House, Ruto must go).
This is after Azimio leader Raila Odinga ordered countrywide mass action to pressure President William Ruto to address some of his demands including the high cost of living.
