Supporters and residents of Eastleigh on Wednesday protested outside Milimani Law Court where crime buster Ahmed Rashid is expected to file a case stopping his prosecution over the murder of two.
Rashid is challenging his plea-taking scheduled for December 8.
Last week, Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) issued a statement saying the DPP had approved murder charges against the suspect.
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority concluded the investigation into the death of Jamal Mohamed and Mohamed Dahir Kheri following a shooting which occurred at Eastleigh, Nairobi County on March 31, 2017.
The Authority said it established that the fatalities were occasioned by police action.
Guided by Section 29 (a) of IPOA Act, the findings were forwarded to the DPP with the recommendation to charge Rashid, with murder.
IPOA said the ODPP, after independently interrogating the case file upheld the findings that there is sufficient evidence to charge the officer with the offence of murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the Penal Code.
On Thursday, IPOA moved to the High Court at Milimani, Nairobi and obtained a summons against the police officer, to attend court and take a plea on December 8, 2022.
