Nairobi governor-elect Johnson Sakaja and his deputy Njoroge Muchiri were on Sunday celebrated by their supporters after they were declared winners in the hotly contested race.
Sakaja won the seat after garnering 699,392 votes.
Sakaja who was vying on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket defeated his main rival Polycarp Igathe of the Jubilee party who got 573,518 votes.
He was declared by Nairobi County Returning Officer Albert Gogo, who later issued the certificate.
He drove himself to Kasarani Tallying Centre to collect his certificate after he was declared the winner.
He will now succeed Ann Kananu to become Nairobi's fourth governor.
