President Kenyatta hosted thousands of students, youth and education sector stakeholders from across the country for this year's President's Award-Kenya Gold Award presentations at State House, Nairobi.
President's Award-Kenya is a self-development platform for young people to acquire life skills and ethical values for a better society.
It was established in 1966 by the Founding Father of the Kenyan Nation, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
Uhuru narrated the story of John Mutembei and how acquiring skills in digital helped him overturn his conviction.
He stated that Mutembei, a former inmate at Nyeri prison, was a beneficiary of the Compass Project: The Digital Online Platform for Engaging in the World Program.
"Through learning and acquiring digital skills, Mutembei launched an appeal against his conviction through the Judiciary's online system," he said.
Uhuru also promised to pardon Lang'ata women's prison inmates.
"Everybody deserves a second chance," he said.
He was accompanied by Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha and the Principal Secretary, State Department of Early Learning and Basic Education, Dr. Julius Ouma Jwan among other officials.
