Kenyan Premier League champions Tusker on Friday confirmed the return of winger John Njuguna from Ulinzi Stars. 

Njuguna, a product of the club’s youth side returns on a two-year contract and has joined the team’s training group in Mombasa.

“I am really happy to come back to a place I call home. I have had three years away in which I have grown and matured as a player and now I believe I come back here a better person. I am looking forward to the challenge ahead,” he said.

“I am more so excited with the challenge of playing continental football. This is a massive opportunity for me as a player. Also, Tusker is a team with high demands and that will make me push harder as a player,” he added.

Njuguna featured for the Tusker academy side between 2016 and 2017 before he joined Ulinzi Stars.

Tusker chief executive officer Charles Obiny said they are really proud of how much Njuguna has grown and matured as a player.

"He is a player we know well and who knows the fabric of the team so having him here is a massive plus for us,” said Obiny.

Meanwhile, six players have been shortlisted for the 2020/2021 Football Kenya Federation Premier (FKF PL) League Midfielder of the Year award.

They include Jackson Macharia (Tusker), Kevin Kimani (Wazito), Lawrence Juma (Sofapaka), Shami Kibwana (Kakamega Homeboyz), James Mazembe (Kariobangi Sharks) and Brian Ochieng (KCB).

The awards gala will be held on September 11 at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi where outstanding performers in the recently concluded season will be duly feted.
