The form one selection launch has been moved to next Tuesday.
In a circular to regional education coordinators and county education directors, Education PS Belio Kipsang said the date has been moved to December 13 from December 9.
“The launch to be presided over by the Cabinet Secretary will take place at 8am at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development ,” Belio said.
The form one admission will still start on January 9. In the past form one students joined secondary school in February.
This year’s KCPE results were released on December 1, as opposed to the end of December tradition.
Education CS Fred Matiang’i said the selection will be based on merit, quotas, equity, affirmative action and candidate choices.
The selection will also ensure that children from disadvantaged backgrounds continue with their education.
“I also wish to assure the public that all candidates who scored 400 marks and above will be admitted to national schools, irrespective of their gender, region or centre,” Matiang’i said.
He said admission letters to form one students will be issued before Christmas.
