Police said the incident happened
in the Mundi area and involved one Elizabeth Wanjiku Ngugi, 29 and her brother aged
nine.
Their bodies were
found lying dead in a pool of blood inside their parents’ house, with multiple
deep cuts around their faces and necks on September 4, police said.
Nyandarua Central Subcounty Police Commander Samuel
Kamau said the suspect allegedly killed his 29-year-old sister on the spot
before turning on his younger brother, aged nine, who later succumbed to
injuries while receiving treatment at JM Kariuki Hospital.
“We are still looking for him and want to ask him to
surrender for processing,” he said.
The suspected assailant, who is
believed to be their brother also stabbed two other siblings aged one and 13
leaving them with serious injuries.
The motive of the fatal attack is
yet to be established, police said as they moved the bodies to the mortuary.
The suspect is said to have escaped
the scene after the murder, police said adding efforts to trace and arrest him
were ongoing.
Police suspect the feud is linked
to land issues in the area.
Meanwhile, three suspects were arrested over the murder of a woman in Gesima village, Nyamira County.
One of the
four suspects was arrested in Kibera, Nairobi, another one in Kaplong, another
in Longisa and a fourth one in Magombo market, police said linking them to the
murder of Mary Anne Makini, which happened on August 22, 2025 in Masaba, Nyamira
County.
The suspects are expected in court
on September 8, 2025 for a miscelleneous application to hold them pending a probe,
police said.
Elsewhere, five people were
attacked and killed by mobs in separate incidents reported to police.
The incidents happened in Kiminini,
Trans Nzoia, Migori Town, Kisumu’s Seme area, Nairobi’s Mowlem area and Makueni’s
Makindu area.
Police said they are investigating the incidents. Police
discourage mob lynching incidents and term them criminal. They want suspects be
surrendered to authorities for processing.
Such incidents have been on the rise amid efforts to address the trend.
