When men postpone treatment, the impact ripples through households, increasing costs, reducing productivity and jeopardizing the wellbeing of partners and children.
Recent studies show Kenyan men are up to 30 percent less likely than women to visit a clinic promptly.
The resulting delays lead to more severe illness, higher medical expenses and a growing burden on public hospitals. Addressing this gap is essential not only for individual health but for the stability of entire communities.
Digital health His.Doctor has partnered with Health X Africa to provide a public health solution by offering discreet low cost online consultations and continuous followup for men, without the need for a physical visit.
By removing the fear of judgment, these services enable men to act early, protecting families from the cascading effects of untreated disease.
"Everyday, you see health initiatives for women, with campaigns and adverts. When was the last time you saw one for men?" asks Treacy Ekwueme, a key member of the His.Doctor team working on the initiative with HealthX. "This collaboration will deliver healthcare to men, the often neglected half."
The initiative is already yielding result, with early participants applauding the quality and speed of care. Mark (not real name) who is one of the first users complimented the ease of access and the time to delivery of his prescription; “I was skeptical when I first consulted the platform at 11PM, it was new. But then my consultation was completed and my delivery was done first thing in the morning”
"Growth for us means expanding access, not just numbers," says Yusuf Sotunde, Head of Growth at His.Doctor.
"As men pay attention to their health and receive timely care, it liftsthe family, home and community."
While internet access remains uneven in rural areas, mobile phone penetration continues to rise, expanding the reach of these lifesaving services.
Public health officials are partnering with digital providers to raise awareness, ensuring that every Kenyan family can benefit from confidential, affordable care.
