China has posted a steep jump in daily Covid-19 infections with new cases more than doubling with millions in lockdown.

Shanghai is the single largest city to be placed under lockdown.

About 17 million residents are under lockdown as cases doubled nationwide to nearly 3,400.

Most cities have been placed under lockdown as the Asian state struggles to eradicate an Omicron flare-up.
