BFK set to review the performance of female boxers

Boxing Federation of Kenya is set to call a meeting soon to review the performance of female pugilists at the President Jamal Cup that concluded in Kisumu over the weekend.

In an appreciation message posted on its social media platforms, the local governing body also confirmed that national team head coach, Benjamin Musa, would name a provisional squad ahead of the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships slated for March in Turkey.

“Our technical team will review performance of our ladies through the two editions and a provisional list of of the women national boxing team will be released ahead of the World Women Championship that will be held in March 2022 in Istanbul, Turkey,” read the message.

BFK also thanked the pugilists who traveled from different parts of the country to grace the three-day event, and wished those who sustained injuries full recovery.

“For those who won Congratulations,for those who didn't this time next year there will be more and more action, work and came back stronger,” the message continued.

While appreciating the marvelous work done by local tacticians to mould female boxers, BFK noted the country still had a long way to go to rise to the desired standards.

“Though there was a good display of boxing, we still have a lot of work to do to meet international standards,” said BFK.
