Kenya records 262 recoveries as virus cases rise to 98,859

The country's fatalities have risen to 1,726.

Kenya on Friday recorded 166 new cases of Covid-19 from a sample size of 7,077.

This brings the country's case load to 98,859, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed the cumulative tests done so far stand at 1,114,198.

The country's fatalities have risen to 1,726 after another three patients succumbed to the disease.

Kagwe said that there are 683 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 1,712 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 29 patients are in ICU, out of which 14 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 14 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 13 are in general wards and one in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 262 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 254 were from the Homebased care program while four were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya's recoveries now stand at 82,195.

From the new cases reported on Friday, 146 are Kenyans while 20 are foreigners.

In terms of gender, 100 are males while 66 are females and the youngest in a one-year-old child and the oldest is 93.

Nairobi leads with 115 case, Kiambu 10, Kajiad0 7, Mombasa 6, Nakuru 4, Busia 3, Machakos 3, Nyamira 3, Embu, Garissa, Kakamega. Kilifi, Kitui, Makueni and Turkana had single cases each.
