Covid-19: Mutyambai directs police to erect road blocks during curfew

There will be no movement allowed, either alone or in groups during the dusk to dawn curfew, IG Hillary Mutyambai has reiterated.

He reiterated that only those within the essential service category will be allowed to move outside their homes after the curfew.

Mutyambai told police to raise road blocks to prevent movement of vehicles between 7pm and 5am.

Any motorist found outside the allowed time will have their vehicles detained and the owners will be arrested and arraigned.

Anyone found outside will have to show proof they offer services within the essential services category.

 Here is a list of organisations classified as offering essential services:

  1. Medical professionals and health workers
  2. National security, administration and co-ordination officers
  3. Public Health and sanitation officers in the county governments
  4. Licensed pharmacies and drug stores
  5. Licensed broadcasters and media houses
  6. Kenya Power
  7. Food dealers, distributors, wholesalers and transporters of farm produce
  8. Licensed supermarkets, mini-markets and hypermarkets
  9. Licensed distributors and retailers of petroleum and oil products and lubricants
  10. Licensed telecommunication operators and service providers
  11. Licensed banks, financial institutions and payment financial services
  12. Fire brigade and other emergency response services
  13. Licensed security firms

Meanwhile, a French and Kenyan with Covid-19 are in ICU at Aga Khan University Hospital.

These two are from the 31 cases confirmed on Thursday.

There were no new cases reported on Friday.
