Bungoma-based journalist Tony Wafula has received an award for outstanding journalism, exceptional storytelling, and dedication to gender-responsive reporting.

Others who received awards include Stephen Astariko, Star Kenya correspondent for the greater northeastern region and Monicah Nyele (Mitume FM).

Wafula was awarded along with other journalists who report on gender matters.

The event took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Nairobi on October 31, 2024.

Speaking at the event, Jeanette Nyanjom, CEO of the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE), congratulated the media for being at the forefront of highlighting gender stories.

"The media plays a pivotal role in advocacy work; that is why we have taken a bold step to recognize these journalists who have really supported us in our advocacy work," she said. FAWE is implementing the Imarisha Msichana project in 20 counties.
