Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has urged leaders across the country to shun tribal politics and support President William Ruto in uniting Kenyans and building the economy.
Savula said there was no need for creating regional kingpins aligned to different communities as the country needs to be united on the fact that all are Kenyans.
“As leaders we must emulate the President of the republic of Kenya over the advice he is giving us as young generation leaders,” Savula said.
The deputy governor was speaking on Monday at Butere Girls National School in Kakamega county.
Savula had accompanied First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto and ICT CS Eliud Owalo for the launch of Konza digital skills laboratory at the school.
"I don’t understand and entertain talks like 'oh I'm kingpin of Kikuyu land, kingpin of Luoland, kingpin of Luhya land' and so on. I understand one thing; we are Kenyans,” Savula said.
He asked students at Butere Girls to build their intellect beyond their tribes and asked them to shun leaders who keep talking about tribal kingpins.
“This is a national school, build your brains beyond your tribes and if you hear of leaders talking about kingpin, avoid such leaders.”
Savula urged and asked the students to focus on education, building Kenya and digital economy as advised by the president.
The DG cautioned political leaders who he said talk about uniting Kenya during the day and at night talk about opposing factors.
“You cannot talk about digital economy during the day and then at night you call yourself a kingpin of your tribe. Let’s help the President to unite Kenya and build the economy so that all of us can benefit,” he said.
