Bungoma tycoon Moses Nandalwe has asked county governor Ken Lusaka to prioritize making Sirisia a municipality.
Speaking to the Star on Thursday in Bungoma town, Nandalwe complained about the formation of municipalities in Bungoma asking Governor Lusaka to include Sirisia on the municipality list.
He said he started championing for Sirisia to be made a municipality in 2018 during former governor Wangamati’s regime.
“I’m very annoyed how the Bungoma County government has upgraded Kimilili and Webuye to municipality status leaving Sirisia. I want Governor Lusaka to move with speed and make Sirisia a municipality,” he said.
However, Nandalwe said that based on the tabulation of the population as per the urban areas and cities act, Sirisia qualifies to become a municipality.
Nandalwe called for assistance from area leaders to upgrade Sirisia town to a municipality arguing that it has all it takes to be called a municipality.
He said that Sirisia has well-put sewerage systems.
He further asked Sirisia leaders should create job opportunities so as to benefit the qualified youths in the constituency.
Nandalwe said that Sirisia can only grow if the professionals can join hands to increase innovation.
