A Nairobi court has allowed Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua to use her Sh300,000 bail paid in 2016 to pay her lawyers.
Mutua was among six lawmakers arrested in 2016 over alleged hate speech and inciting remarks.
They were detained at Pangani police station before being referred to as the Pangani Six. Other MPs included Junet Mohamed, Moses Kuria, Kimani Ngunjiri, Aisha Jumwa and Timothy Bosire.
They were released on Sh300,000 bail each before they were acquitted.
Chief magistrate Martha Mutuku ruled that the charge sheet was defective and not clear. She directed that the legislators' cash bail be refunded.
Mutua however says she has not received the refund to date. She now wants it chanelled to her lawyers as payment for services rendered.
On Thursday, the second-term lawmaker told Milimani chief magistrate Susan Shitubi that the cash bail should be deposited to Khaminwa and Company advocates.
Shitubi said since Mutua had been acquitted, her application to have the cash bail deposited to her lawyers was allowed.
