Officials of former Jubilee affiliate parties in Bungoma county have cried foul over a ploy by sitting MPs to appoint themselves branch officials.
Speaking to the press in a Bungoma hotel, officials of the defunct URP, NFK, UDF and TNA said MPs in Bungoma met and appointed themselves without consulting other stakeholders.
Former NFK Bungoma chairman Martin Nyongesa said, “Incumbent MPs want to force themselves as party [interim] officials so that they lock out aspirants competing for their seats.”
Former URP branch chairman Lincoln Okonji said the legislators are violating the JP constitution. He said officials of the defunct parties are in better positions to act as the interim officials.
