Governor George Natembeya of Trans Nzoia County has reconstituted his cabinet following the expiry of contracts for four county executives.

The new executive committee members were sworn in during a ceremony at the County Town Hall offices in Kitale, attended by the governor.

The four executives are Kerio Lorot (Water and Environment), Pius Gumo (Lands), Eliud Tormoi (Gender and Youth), and Robert Wamalwa (Public Service Management).

Governor Natembeya said the changes were necessary to improve performance and efficiency within the county government.

“A county executive must understand their roles clearly. We cannot keep repeating the same instructions,” he said after the swearing-in ceremony.

He added that while significant progress has been made since the current administration took office, there remains much work to be done to serve residents effectively.

The reshuffle was also prompted by the impending expiry of contracts for six other executives. The governor indicated that some of these positions might also be filled with new appointees to further strengthen county operations.

On county challenges, Natembeya highlighted the need to address land management issues in the Lands department and improve water supply for Kitale residents in the Environment and Water sector.

The governor said that current officeholders who wish to be reconsidered for reappointment have been asked to submit fresh applications.

He also noted that one executive has requested to leave at the end of her contract due to family reasons.
