Lenku reorganises cabinet after four CECs quit before poll

He was expected to appoint a professional to health docket but did not do so.

Governor Joseph Lenku unveiled his cabinet on Tuesday night.

Kajiado Governor Joseph Lenku has reconstituted his cabinet and re-assigned his chief officers as he starts his second term in office.

Lenku maintained most of his county executive committee members except four: Esther Somoire (health), Alvin Kimani (trade), Florence Waiganjo (water) and Samuel Seki (gender) who quit to pursue other careers.

Seki is the new UDA senator in Kajiado after resigning to pursue politics ahead of the August general election.

In Lenku’s new cabinet announced on Tuesday night, three dockets will be managed by acting county executive committee members after the holders of those positions moved to other engagements.

Former Finance CEC Michael Semera has retained his seat and will act as the CEC for Planning and ICT

Former roads CEC has been moved to health services and public health.

The long-serving Agriculture CEC, Jackline Koin, retained her position, along with Hamilton Parseina of Lands, Physical Planning, Urban Development and Housing.

Jeremiah ole Ncharo has retained his Education docket.

Alex Kilowa has been moved to Public Service, Administration, Social Service, and Inspectorate services.

Dr Leina Mpoke is the new county minister for Water and Natural Resources, which had been vacant.

Alias Kisota will take over Roads, Transport, Public works and Energy.

Mpoke will act as Gender, Cultural and Wildlife minister.

The Finance minister will also act in the place of Trade, Investments, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development CECM.

Francis Sakuda retained his county secretary docket, while Augustine Sekeyian maintained his position as the county attorney.

Governor Lenku reassigned his chief officers. Tonic Moraa was transferred to trade and investments, Grace Saitoti was moved to Water and Lekina Tutui went to Finance and Economic planning.

Jacob Sampeke moved to roads and public works, while Jacqueline Mwaniki moved to Vocational Training.

Rose Muntambu was posted to Public Service, Samson Parashina moved to Education and Joshua Loitai went to Culture.

Others are Jonathan Kulei (health services), Eddy Gitau (urban development), Francis Metian (Agriculture), and Sankaire Tima (lands and physical planning).

Douglas Konana was moved from the water to the governor’s office for special programmes (governor’s delivery unit).

Neema Loitu was reappointed chief of staff, while former MCA Daniel Kanchori is Lenku’s legal adviser.

Othersappointed to work in the governor's office include Moses ole Narok (political adviser), Charles Ogada (economic adviser), J0ohn Kamanga (governance adviser) and Philip Parsitau as health and planning advisor.
