We're ready for Rongai MP election, Nakuru IEBC official

Rongai parliamentary mini-election will be held on Monday 29 after it failed to take off on August 9.

This was after it was suspended following reports of missing ballot boxes and papers for the parliamentary seat.

According to Mele all the arrangements are now complete and the polls will kick off at 6am across all the 197 polling stations in the constituency on Monday.

"Everything is now ready for the Rongai mini-poll. Our official are also ready, we have 394 presiding and deputy presiding officers and about 600 hundred clerks who will cover the all the polling stations. Dr. Mele said.

The seat is hotly contested with UDA party keen to clinch the seat from incumbent so that the it can boost its numbers in the National Assembly.

The seat has attracted 3 candidates, UDA's Paul Chebor incumbent KANU's Raymond Moi who is the son of late former president Daniel Moi and Chama Cha Mashinani's Luca Kigen.

Raymond who is seeking his third consecutive term to represent the people of Rongai in the National Assembly is facing an uphill challenge from Paul Chebor of UDA.

UDA party clinched 8 out the 11 parliamentary seats in Nakuru county as well as the governor, senator and woman representative seats.

The Kenya Kwanza brigade led by the deputy president elect Rigathi Gachagua has also descended in the constituency to drum up support for it's candidate in campaign rallies that ended on Saturday.

If UDA win the seat it will have the bragging rights of having 9 out of the 11 parliamentary seats in Nakuru seat and also oust one of the longest serving law maker in the constituency.

This will also see the Moi's out of elective seat after Gideon Moi lost his senate seat.
