An ODM official in Narok county has denounced the party elections conducted on Wednesday which saw him ousted by another group.

Acting County ODM chairman, Robinson Torome, popularly known as Kaza Roho, said he will not recognise the election of prominent wheat farmer Musa ole Nampaso which was picked by 20 delegates.

Speaking to the Star on phone on Thursday, Torome said the party is not aware of such elections and those who purported to have done it had sinister motive.

“ODM is a democratic party and cannot conduct its elections in a hotel. This is a national party and once we are ready, we will go to William ole Ntimama Stadium and hold our election in broad day light in the presence of all members,” Torome said.

Torome has been acting for the last two years following the passing of former chairman Charles Nampaso.

He told the group to stop spreading propaganda about elections and instead join them in building the party to be strong in the region.

The chairman added that as for now, they are putting mechanisms to ensure that all the delegates are involved and get ready for the polls.

“As a party, we want to involve all the people regardless of their race, tribe and religion because we want representation of all. Our party believes in transparency, accountability and equality to all.,” he said.

He added that ODM is still popular in Narok county than any other party and they are fully backing the party leader Raila Odinga.

"We are now preparing to ensure that we field candidates in all the six positions across the county in the next polls,” the chairman said.

Torome also took the opportunity to drum up support for the party leader saying he is the best person to be the next president of this country.

“Raila is the only leader who will bring tangible change in this country as he had portrayed himself as a national leader. He is capable of fighting tribalism and implementing the real democratic change in the nation,” he said.

The party official said that if Raila was elected as the president, he would take care of the interest of all Kenyans regardless of the tribe.

He said that the ODM party leader is the only leader who will unite Kenyans and his developmental records are clear.

“Raila has a lot of experience having served in various leadership positions of this nation and his style of leadership is different and lives up to his promises,” he said.
