33 arrested as Kajiado police raid illegal wines and spirits outlets

The raid followed a myriad of complaints to the police

Police in Kajiado town on Saturday raided seven wines and spirits shops and arrested 26 revelers and seven traders for operating illegally. 

Police are also pursuing operators of betting machines.

Kajiado county Police Commander Muthuri Mwongera ordered the crackdown following public complaints in the town.

“We have already closed seven wines and spirits shops that were selling beer in the morning to young people, and have also arrested their owners,” said Mwongera.  

Mwongera also said 26 revelers are in police custody and will be arraigned in court on Monday for not following the Ministry of Health protocols of Covid-19.
