Kajiado Central Sub-County Police Commander Daudi Loronyokwe told the Star that after killing his wife, the suspect attempted to dispose of the body at night but was overwhelmed by her weight.
“After talking to their neighbours at Dumpsite Estate in Kajiado town they explained that the couple has been fighting for the past couple of months,” said Loronyokwe.
The police officer added that after the suspect was unable to dispose of the body alone, he locked it in the house on Saturday morning and attempted to flee but police acting on a tip-off managed to apprehend him.
Lornyokwe appealed to the public to seek counseling whenever couples undergo situations that can threaten their lives.
“We are all aware of the economic situation families are undergoing during this time of coronavirus pandemic. Families are ripped apart by poverty but let us not allow us to act violently and take lives. Let us be sane,” the police commander said.
He said the body of the deceased was moved to Kajiado County Referral Hospital mortuary while the suspect is locked up at the local police station to await arraignment on Monday.
