 Lanet chief Fancis Kariuki, famously known as the 'Tweeting chief', has died of a respiratory related ailment.

The award winning chief who was recgonised for using social media, especially Twitter, to fight crime and illicit brew was taken ill on Monday and died on Wednesday afternoon.

His son, Ken Kariuki, confirmed that the administrator died of pneumonia while undergoing treatment at the Nakuru County Referral Hospital.

The chief, who had more than 50,000 followers on Twitter, shot to the limelight for using his Twitter posts as his primary form of communication to residents.

The former teacher's body will be moved to Umash Funeral Home.
