Schools and other projects have been started at the border of West Pokot and Turkana counties as peace returns in the volatile region. The Kacheliba CDF has built schools in Nauyapong and Kasses areas at the border of the two counties.

CDF manager Wilson Koringura said the schools have registered “overwhelmingly” many students. “The residents are now experiencing a new wave of peaceful interaction from both the Turkana and the Pokot communities, who decided to bury their differences and stop cattle rustling,” he said.

“When you walk along the border of Pokot and Turkana in the morning, you will see children running to schools without fear. Our parents have embraced education.” Turkana South MP James Lomenen said the peace has allowed women and men to start projects without fear.
