The constable of police attached to Kegonga police station was on patrol with other officers in the area when they were attacked, police said of the Saturday night incident.

He was shot in the right arm and the bullet also went through his ribs and was lodged in the right lungs in the ambush

He was rushed to the hospital and admitted in stable condition. Police said the gunmen escaped the scene.

A team of detectives is investigating the shooting.

Elsewhere in Baragoi, Samburu County, gunmen shot and injured a father and his daughter before stealing their 24 goats in an attack.

The incident happened late in the night on Friday as the family slept. Both the father, aged 67, and daughter, aged 13, were rushed to the hospital in a stable condition.

Police responded to the scene hours later but no arrest or recovery of the stolen goats was made.

Police said on Sunday they were combing the area to pursue those behind the attack.

The area is among those under a special operation to address cattle rustling menace. The bandits keep attacking villages despite the operation.

And police in Mutuati, Meru County are looking for a gang that attacked a family and robbed them of their motorcycle.

The gang shot to the air once before they escaped the scene.

Police said the gang stole a motorcycle before leaving. Police visited the scene and collected a spent cartridge. The cartridge was sent to the ballistic experts for analysis.

Cases of stealing of motorcycles have been on the rise in various places amid efforts to address the trend.

Police say they are pursuing the cases and that some of the stolen motorcycles are changed and sold to unsuspecting buyers locally and out of the country.

In Etago, Kisii County, police are investigating an incident where a 68-year-old man was found murdered and his body dumped on the roadside.

He was identified as James Kinaro, police said adding the body had injuries on the head and mouth.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures following the murder that happened on October 16, 2025.

Elsewhere in Rumuruti, Laikipia County, a fight between two men turned tragic when one of them died.

One of them, identified as Tom Namene, 28, was stabbed and killed in the fight, police said.

The assailant was later arrested at the scene, police said adding a blood stained knife. It is not clear what triggered the fight that turned fatal.

Police said they are investigating the incident. In Kajuki area, Tharaka Nithi County, a ten-year-old boy died after being hit by his cousin in a fight.

The victim was a grade three pupil at Kamutirira Primary School, police said. The assailant was arrested at the scene, police said.

It is not clear why the two were fighting. Police said the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

In Chwele, Bungoma County, one Tabulei Wafula, 27 was found dead and bleeding from his mouth, nose, and ears after he had been attacked.

The body had injuries in the cheek, back, fingers and head. Police said they are investigating the murder. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Loitoktok, Kajiado County, one Justus Nzioka Mtinda, 24 and who was a boda boda rider, was found dead after murder.

The body had multiple deep cuts on the head. Police said he was also robbed of his motorbike before he was killed.
