Police in Kisumu have arrested a man found in possession of suspected stolen electronic devices.

Officers from Kombewa police station, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended the suspect in Kolenyo village, Seme Subcounty.

A search at his residence led to the recovery of 24 assorted mobile phones, two laptops—a black Lenovo and a grey HP—and an Orimo power bank, all believed to have been stolen.

The suspect is in police custody and is expected to be arraigned on Friday, August 7, 2025.

Elsewhere, police officers from Kiambu county conducted a crackdown on illicit brews in Kwambira, Limuru Subcounty and arrested two suspects.

During the operation on August 5, officers recovered 135 litres of chang’aa packaged in one-litre polythene sachets and stored in sacks.

The items were seized from one suspect’s home, while the second was caught selling the illicit alcohol to members of the public.

Meanwhile, a targeted operation by officers from the Keroka police station in Nyamira county, led by Subcounty Police Commander (SCPC) Tobias Ombima resulted in the seizure of 10 sacks containing approximately 260 kilogrammes of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa.

The recovery was made on August 5 when officers intercepted a suspicious vehicle travelling from Kisii towards Sotik.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle was fitted with a fake number plate in an attempt to evade detection.

Two occupants of the vehicle were arrested and are currently in police custody, pending arraignment.

The vehicle has also been impounded as investigations continue.

The National Police Service (NPS) reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating the production and sale of illicit alcohol nationwide, urging the public to support the campaign by reporting related activities to the nearest police station.
