The Sh1.3 billion project is one of the Government’s

improvement of fisher folk and the fisheries sector.
The centre, which is 15% complete will provide 28 million
fingerlings annually for aquaculture, cage culture, and restocking of Lake
Victoria.
“This project, together with fish landing sites complete
with cold rooms, whose construction will commence shortly will modernize the
fisheries sector, empower millions of Kenyans in the sector and revitalize the
economy of the Counties around Lake Victoria; Migori, Homabay, Kisumu, Siaya and
Busia,” Kindiki said.
Once complete, the centre will provide fresh water fish feed
(fingerlings) which will be sold to small and large-scale fish farmers.
