The government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura is set to visit Kisumu County for a food distribution exercise for flood victims within the county.
Mwaura will lead the relief distributions at Kadibo grounds at Nduru Secondary School on Tuesday morning.
Kadibo is one of the subcounties within the lakeside city that was badly affected by the raging floods and water from Lake Victoria.
Currently, more than 40,000 people have been displaced by floods in Kisumu County according to County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo .
The numbers of households affected include Nyando, Kadibo, Kisumu Central, Nyakach, Muhoroni and Kisumu East subcounties.
In Nyando subcounty, the situation was made worse after River Nyando broke its banks on Saturday evening.
More than 14 schools have been submerged within the constituency.
Currently, those affected are in different rescue centres and camps within the constituency like Kowuor Primary School, and Baptist church Magina camp, Kakola in Ombaka, Education hall within the assistant county commissioner office compound and others at Kochogo camp within Wawidhi.
An estimated 4,100 acres of habited and farmed lands have been affected by floods.
