The scene where unknown persons burnt tyres on Sunday night

The police in Bungoma have launched investigations into the matter where unknown persons attacked the home of Bungoma politician and 2027 gubernatorial aspirant Zacharia Barasa and torched his gate.

Barasa’s supporters allege that several gunshots rented the air during the attack.

Speaking to the press at the Barasa’s home on Monday, Martin Nyongesa, Barasa’s brother, condemned the incident.

He said that Barasa has always been at the forefront of protecting and fighting for the common mwananchi‘s interests.

“As we speak, Bungoma has no leader to protect the interests of the common mwananchi. It is my brother Zacharia who is fighting for the interests of the people and such incidents intent to undermine him but we won’t stop criticising the county government,” Nyongesa said.

Nyongesa argues that those who attacked his brother’s home are known individuals asking the police to take action against them.

“The people who attacked Barasa’s residence and torched his gate are those who are scared of his political moves, if they want to face us let them come in the broad daytime not at night,” Nyongesa stated.

He says that the incident occurred on Sunday night.

However, Nyongesa claimed that despite making reports at Bungoma police station, the police haven’t visited the scene to assess the situation.

However, in a quick reply, the police said they had launched a probe into the matter.

“When the incident was happening we tried reaching out to the police but they didn’t respond on time,” he said.

Nyongesa told the star that the goons burnt tyres at the entrance.
