Preparations are at an advanced stage ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony of the County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) in Kisii.
Governor Simba Arati is set to host Investments, Trade, and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria on Wednesday at Tongeri village in Bokimonge and Bombaba wards within Bomachoge Borabu subcounty where the construction of the multimillion project has begun.
Kisii is among 21 counties targeted in the first phase of the project in the country that will enhance the country’s productivity.
County executive in charge of Trade, Tourism, Industry, and Marketing Cyrus Nyabicha supervised the ongoing works on the ground on behalf of Governor Simba and was pleased with the progress so far.
He commended members of the community for their continued support to ensure the success of the project saying there will be long and short-term job opportunities for the youths and women in the area.
According to Mr Nyabicha, the park will guarantee the aggregation of agricultural goods and their direct sale to markets inside and outside Kisii through a network of global logistical firms.
During a public participation exercise conducted last week on Friday, the locals unanimously endorsed the construction of the CAIP saying its establishment will bring numerous development projects in the remote area that have been ignored since independence.
The residents thanked Governor Simba for fast-tracking the project adding that locals have already started realising the benefits as the contractor is engaging them in the initial preparations.
