Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni has urged Governor Amos Nyaribo to create more employment opportunities in the county.
Omogeni said under devolution the county is one of the employers hence the governor should utilise the opportunity to empower residents.
Senator Omogeni spoke on Sunday during a church service in Nyamira town.
He called upon all elected leaders to ensure residents are prioritised in development projects.
“We now have devolution to empower our people and the only way this can be realised is through giving them employment opportunities,” Omogeni said.
He urged Nyaribo to ensure his government absorbs as many employees as possible.
“Among the issues we wish the county leadership to consider is unemployment which the governor has the mandate to handle,” Omogeni said.
He also said the resources from the national government should be used properly to develop devolved units.
