Police in Homa Bay are looking for suspects who robbed Rangwe MP candidate Omburo Odaje of Sh1 million in his house.

They took away the monies at the house in Kanyang’ondo village in Central Kochia location.

According to witnesses, the four men armed with three pistols raided the home on Saturday at 9 pm.

Two suspects stayed outside the gate to protect their getaway motorbikes while the others entered the homestead to execute the robbery.

In the sitting room, the suspects demanded from the 20 supporters for Odaje's whereabouts as they cocked the pistols and ordered them to lie down.

One of the gangsters went into the bedroom and found Odaje’s wife and her two-year-old child.

The robber demanded for money or he would kill the hopeful's wife. The woman surrender and pointed them to a bag that contained Sh1 million.

Speaking on the phone on Monday, Odaje said his wife pleaded with the gangsters not harm them, but she was slapped twice and ordered her lie facing down.

“The robbers took the bag and her iPhone worth Sh200,000,” Odaje said.

Odaje said he later reported the matter at Rangwe police station.

County criminal investigations officer Abed Kavoo said they were still interrogating the people in the compound during the incident.

Kavoo said the interrogation will enable them to get crucial leads to trace the suspects.

“The stolen phone has been switched off. There were many people in that compound so we are still gathering information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects who committed the crime,” Kavoo said.
