Nyaribari Chache MP candidate Zaheer Jhanda has said given an opportunity he will not serve people on clan basis.

The businessman however called out his opponents for using the campaign platform to hoodwink residents, that he was not born, bred and schooled in Kisii.

Jhanda who is running on a UDA party ticket, spoke on Tuesday during campaigns at the constituency.

"Some of my opponents have sensed defeat that is why they are basing their campaigns on my colour and tribe.

"I am telling them that their dirty game will not help them. I was born, brought up and schooled in Kisii," he said.

The flamboyant politician said he contested the same seat in the 2013 and 2017 election but he was rigged out.

"I want to tell those who have the habit of rigging that this time they will not make it," he said.

Jhanda however cautioned the youth against being misused saying they should elect an MP who has their interest at heart.

"I am urging my fellow youth to shun leaders who are out to misuse them. They should understand that they are the ones who are going to shape the future of this country," he said.

Other candidates in the race include incumbent Richard Tong'i, veteran journalist Eric Obino and Kiogoro MCA Samuel Apoko.

Also, Vincent Sagwe, Chris Bichage and James Kenani.

Speaking separately Obino told his competitors not to capitalise on mass youth unemployment to seek political mileage.

He said those seeking to unseat Tong'i should concentrate on issue-based politics and not character assassination.

Obino said he is optimistic he will clinch the seat based on experience.

Tong'i who has been traversing the constituency has been urging the electorate to give him another opportunity, to finish the projects he started during his two-term tenure.

"I know Nyaribari people are going to give me another opportunity. I served them well during the period I have been in office," he said.
